Current Track Design and Layout: (Click on photo for a higher resolution version)
Thanks to Phil for this great photo!!

Technical section:

Some winter work in progress, the crossover has been removed and a whole new technical section is being layed out. We predict a 15 second increase in lap times as a result of the changes, hopefully more racing and less chaos on race days!

Banked corner:

About 80 tonnes of soil went into the construction of the banked corner

Ripple section:

Work in progress of the new table top turn and triple ripple.

The rostrum and raised pit lane with a few banners add to the racetrack atmosphere. Note to maunfacturers and model shops out there, if you want this sort of exposure at the UK's fastest growing club don't hesitate to contact us either via the forum or directly to one of our contacts .

Formula 1 style barriers. The piping has been doubled up in places to ensure racers are not tempted to miss out difficult sections of the track!

The new chicane section build in progress. In response to member feedback requesting more technical sections to the track this should cause a challenge as it comes straight after the hairpin and just before the awkward little whoops jump.

The improvements keep on coming. This pic is the all new raised pit lane during construction. It was made from an old sawdust trailer top donated by our landlord and ever helpful friend of the club; Farmer John Collinge. Many thanks for all the hard graft to the usual suspects: Pete, Bazza and Charlie.

Click on the above image for a higher resolution version of this panorama of the track with the new tabletop in place and the new improved track layout. It's a bit wet and muddy but the consesus is that it's a killer track layout with more technical bits while retaining it's fast flowing curves and top end testing straights.

Here it is at last, the much anticipated tabletop, Click the image for a high resolution version of this picture.

Despite all the larger scale stuff that's been in progress it's the details that make the difference. These lovely new marshall posts made by Steve will make race days just that bit more organised and clearer for everyone.

Several reconnaissance missions around the North West by Pete got us the pallet racking for next to no cost and a couple of weekends of hard graft for the team and voila the new rostrum, plenty of room for 10 big blokes up top and a shelf underneath for those last minute adjustments in the pit lane. A big thanks is also due to Paul of A1 Joinery for making and donating the rostrum stairs.

The latest masterplan with the proposed jump layout.

Above is panorama view of the current track layout. Until we build the crossover and ship in the dirt it is a flat track so is modified slightly from our 'masterplan' below to get it to work. The 10m blue grid shows the overall size of the track, approximately 50m by 30m:

We've only just started the club and facilities are a bit rough and ready at the moment. This is the first simple track layout just to get the club up and running, we've not removed any grass or built any jumps yet. We ran our first meeting with plywood jumps and a borrowed trailer as a rostrum. It was a good oportunity to get feedback to improve the overall design of the track. The next improved version should be layed out by the next meeting

Sunday 7th August 2005

This picture shows the mown field on our first track day. The farmer let us mark out a patch of land with tyres which we then attacked with strimmers, petrol mowers and anything else we could find to get us started. It has given us a blank canvas to work with so now it's time to come up with some track designs before the next track day on the 13th August
